The Lowdown on My New Community for Marketers

More than 60 women said they are interested in this new community for women who work in marketing!

I've received a few questions from some of you, so I wanted to share the answers with everyone in case you've been wondering the same thing.

When will our events start? I am aiming to have this community go live the last week of April. This will give me time to get all of the founding members enrolled and build our community.

What events will we have? So far, the most requested events have been to have weekly brainstorming sessions, a networking event once a month and a monthly workshop that will give members a chance to share their expertise with our community. All of these events will take place on Zoom. As the membership grows, we’ll add more opportunities to connect and support with each other.

How will we communicate with the other members? We will have our brainstorming sessions, networking events and workshops on Zoom. As far as where we can chat throughout the week, I have a few options in mind that our members will be able to provide feedback on. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to be engaged in the group and get the support you need.

Who's going to be in the community? This community is for women who work in marketing, whether they work for a company or are self-employed. We got our first sign up today (shout out to Karen!). While I don't know who will apply, I can share with you the survey data from the 60+ women who are interested...

  • 37% Freelancer / self employed

  • 21% One-woman marketing department

  • 17% Individual contributor (not self-employed)

  • 12% Manage direct reports

  • 9% Entrepreneur who does my own marketing

  • 4% Marketing business / agency owner

  • 40% have 5 years or less of experience

  • 18% have 11-15 years of experience

  • 16% have 6-10 years of experience

  • 16% have 16-20 years of experience

Why is there an application? I want to make sure we have a balanced group in terms of marketing experience, career path and desired outcomes for this experience. Another reason why the application is part of the process is because I need information from you in order to set up this community effectively. This is a lesson I've learned from setting up other communities. You'd be surprised how many people will buy something and then not provide the required input. I want to make sure we have women in the group who are going to be active and engaged. Otherwise, this community element won't work.

So far 15 women have applied! Be the next one by applying here.

What's the difference between your free Facebook groups and this new community? This new community will be a totally different experience. We are going to be able to develop relationships with each other and help each other in ways you can't do by reading a Facebook post. You're going to love connecting with each other on Zoom and tapping into the collective brainpower of the group. Another benefit is that you won't be overwhelmed with information. Everything will be organized and easy for you to access. Annnnnnd no spammers!!!

Why isn't this free? It costs money to create a group like this. From SaaS tools to my time coordinating everything, I have hard costs to cover. My goal is to make this group affordable, even as we grow in size and features.

Will you be raising the cost of the membership? Whatever rate you sign up for is the rate you keep for as long as you're a member. Getting in at the very beginning is the best deal you'll ever get! Any fee increases will be for new members. If you leave our community and come back later, you will need to pay whatever the going rate is.

When is the deadline to join? Please apply by 11:59 p.m. PT on Thursday, April 18 to lock in the founding member rate of $20 per month or $200 per year.

Will it be hard to cancel if I don't like it? If for some reason you don't like this experience, you can cancel 2 days prior to your next billing date, and you won't be charged again. I am unable to offer prorated refunds.

If you still have lingering questions, feel free to book a 15-minute chat with me this weekend or email me and ask away. I want you to be 100% confident and excited about joining this community!

See you on the inside!
